PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Payroll and accounting skills are always in demand in the job market. It is extremely valuable to combine mastery of financial accounting with an understanding of SAP environments, which large businesses utilize to manage, monitor, and organize their daily business operations.

The ERP College SAP Financial Accounting and Payroll course train students to pursue careers as accountants and payroll professionals. Students will learn how to generate financial statements and financial reports, overseeing budgets, paying taxes, managing accounting books, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll disbursements. In addition, students will gain expertise in learning and working under SAP work environment, but before moving on to immersion in the SAP software, students will have hands-on training in using different accounting software for small and medium scale businesses such as QuickBooks and SAGE 50, Moreover, students will master employment success strategies, which will serve as support as they move on to more complex topics and eventually their careers.

The ERP College SAP Financial Accounting and Payroll program emphasize real-world experience, which students earn through a two-month practicum. The 38-week program includes an accounting and payroll internship, and one of the key requirements for students is 120 on-the-job experience hours.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for the SAP Financial Accounting Program must meet the following additional admission requirements:

  • Internal Basic Skills Test
  • Program applicants require a basic skills test based on a grade 12 education.
  • Understanding English
  • Understanding Mathematics
  • Internal Interview Process
  • Program applicants require an interview. Successful candidates have their choice of program.
  • Police Background Check for Practicum as Needed

PROGRAM CONTENT

BOOKKEEPING & FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

Bookkeeping and financial accounting concerns ledgers, general transaction journals, payroll accounting, and many other areas of finance. To achieve mastery, students prepare statements and complete worksheets, in addition to performing business reconciliations and recording costs of goods sold, sales, and purchase discounts.

LEGISLATION

For accurate payroll, legislation at both the federal and provincial levels are relevant. There are specific pieces of legislation that decide and affect payroll compliance, varying from one province to another, from one employee type to another, and even from one situation to another.

SAP FINANCE

SAP finance is financial intelligence software renowned for its comprehensiveness, accounting for costs, revenues, and other business transactions in a single powerful tool. Mastery of this software affords efficient accounting and financial analysis.

PERSONAL & CORPORATE TAXATION

Employees and employers pay for personal and corporate taxation according to the rules and regulations that the government sets. These are necessary concerns for any person or entity generating income or revenue.

SAGE 50

Encompassing the entire accounting process according to Simply Accounting, students will organize a ledger, create records of transactions, run more involved accounting procedures in Simply Accounting, monitor payroll and inventory, and then close out accounting months and years as appropriate.

QUICKBOOKS

One of the most popular pieces of accounting software, Quickbooks is widely used among consumers and businesses alike. To use the software, students will learn how to document accounts, banking information, records, and payroll.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & PAYROLL

Varying widely from one employee to another, payroll entails an understanding of more variables than most other types of accounting. There are commissions, salaries, expenses, benefits, and other issues to consider, and there are multiple parties who require reporting of all these issues.

PAYROLL COMPLIANCE & HUMAN RESOURCE

From understanding the benefits of challenges of unions to recognizing employee rights, benefits, and safety concerns, human resources ensure that businesses remain aligned with the core rules and guidelines that direct them, maintaining security and efficiency in the workplace. Other areas of concerns are diversity and salaries, which must follow all applicable payroll compliance rules.

MICROSOFT OFFICE

Used almost universally in the corporate world, Microsoft Office is the premier suite of business software. Users conduct wordprocessing in Microsoft Word, create tables in Microsoft Excel, develop presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, and send e-mails in Microsoft Outlook. Keyboarding skills, which are necessary in all positions today, are also critical skills taught alongside Microsoft Office.

Overseeing the salaries and wages that your business pays out, you will need to pay close attention to detail and use the proper tools as you carry out your responsibilities. You will be able to sign off on payroll documents sure that you have not missed anything.

BOOKKEEPER

As a Bookkeeper you will be recording financial transactions, such as purchases sales, receipts, and payments made by an individuals  or institutions/corporations, recording all financial transactions and keeping it up to date is a key process that has to be maintained by the bookkeeper

PRACTICUM

ERP College works hard to place students with Calgary employees as part of our two-month practicum. This is a requirement for our diploma program, which entails 120 working hours at minimum. Serving a real business in Calgary, you will put your SAP, financial, accounting, and payroll skills into action. Our practicum represents a priceless opportunity to earn work experience before you graduate and begin your career.
